Oh boy- I’ve been tagged by 2 friends of mine Traci Knoppe and Lisa Wood to share 7 odd and interesting things about me.
You should definitely go check out Lisa Wood’s best website tips and Traci’s Cottage as they have some awesome tips and information to share. Traci also has another cool blog with video tutorials called Genesis Blogging.
Ok now on to my 7 odd and interesting things about me. I don’t know if these are all odd but I think they’re interesting
.
1- Barbies, Strawberry Shortcake My Little Pony and All Things Cute
Even though I’m 31 years old I absolutely love Barbies, Strawberry Shortcake and anything charmingly adorable. My husband knows this and got me a whole bunch of Barbie movie DVDs for Christmas. I absolutely loooved watching Barbie Rapunzel, Swan Lake, the 12 Ballerina Princesses, the Christmas Carol, etc. You really should go check those movies out. You’ll feel so refreshed after watching them.
I love looking at pretty and cute things. Simply seeing a pretty image brings calmness and peace to me.
I also think that as adults we should still cultivate what we enjoy even if it’s against conventional taboo. I always like to listen to calm and instrumental music and Children’s songs like Cedarmont Kids Cds. Life is way to short and filled with really stressful and irritating things for us not to cultivate joy and happiness. That’s one of the reasons my site is filled with country graphics.
2- The choice to be a SAHM (stay at home mom)
I can’t stand to see anyone bleeding but I chose physical therapy for college. Little did I know about the corpses and all of the gory stuff that was involved in doing physical therapy.
After a few months of really trying to juggle college and a baby I decided that it was better for me to quit college to stay home with my oldest child. He simply cried all day while I was at school. And I couldn’t bear to let him crying.
I don’t regret my choice one bit. I love being around my children and will always do all that I can to continue being a stay at home mom. This year I’m making the transition to being a work at home mom. It’s been very different for me since I used to spend hours with the kids every day and now I simply can’t. I’m grateful for every moment I can spend with my 3 boys.
3- Born with a knack for teaching
When I was a kid, I used to get all of my stuffed animals and dolls line them up like they were in a classroom and teach them English. I’d get my children’s books and place them in their laps. I think my love for teaching was showing ever since I was 5 years old. Now I have my 3 boys to teach. I looooooove teaching; especially if I can incorporate fun things for kids to do while they’re learning.
4- I love Phonics and English
I’ve always loved English, literature and phonics. I’m not crazy about math though- that’s one subject that makes me dizzy-LOL. Signs of my passion with English that showed since my youngen’ years.
When I was in 2nd grade I wrote a book about pigs and it won a county contest. I was in the U.S. at the time. My love for writing and creating stories was already showing.
In 4th grade I did a test and ended up number one in the world of all American schools for the English language.(I studied in the Pan American school here in Brazil.) I got this certificate signed by Ronald Reagan at an Awards Ceremony at a hotel.
All of this probably explains why I taught my oldest child to read fluent English by the time he was 4 years old. I started teaching him when he was 2. I’m fascinated by phonics. I can tell by the look on people’s faces that most people aren’t as excited as I am by phonetics-
LOL.
5- Meeting my true love
I fell in love with my high school Physics teacher. Even though he was my teacher, he’s only 5 years older than I am. Marriage is a huge commitment and so absolutely worth it. We’ve grown a lot these last 12 years of being married and each day we love each other more. I know I married the right guy because I prayed and got confirmation from the Lord before marrying him. I also know I married the right guy because I couldn’t imagine living my life without him.
6- Meeting the most important Person in the Universe
I was a rebellious atheist teenager until I finally came to Jesus one day while sitting underneath a tree. I came to the point of knowing that He was real and believing in Him after many years of struggle.
One day I prayed to him and asked him for help. At that moment I literally felt the presence of God flowing into me like a river. I was instantly freed from many things that had chained me up for so long.
I’ve had several supernatural experiences with God. I love Him very much and He’s my only true safety net in this nasty world. I know that if it weren’t for God I wouldn’t be alive or happy. I also wouldn’t be able to be sure of what will happen to me after I die. Knowing what will happen to you after death is priceless.
7- Where I get my self esteem and value from
I know that my value does not come from how much money I make, what titles I’ve earned, if I’m popular, famous, pretty, skinny, talented or successful in anyone’s eyes. My value comes from knowing that God loves me and has a specific purpose and plan for my life.
Each person has their unique purpose and calling. The sooner we find out what that is and begin to put it into action – the sooner we’ll achieve God’s will for our lives. This is where I get my value from- from being myself and knowing that I’m loved and special to God. Knowing that He uses me to bless other people and will continue to use me if I submit to His will.

such a cute little blog, makes me sick to see stupid religious people like you in this world. I would kick you in the head if I met you in the streets.
Eren Mckay
Hi Raj,
I’m sure you would kick me in the head. I wouldn’t kick you though.
It’s too bad that you can’t see past the fact that I’m a Christian. I’m a human being and I don’t judge people by their religion. In fact I can honestly say that I have friends who are muslim, spiritists, atheists, and agnostics. I pray for each one of them and try to help them as much as possible when they need me.
I’m sorry you feel that way about Christians- I also have had some bad experiences with people who called themselves Christians and were false hypocrites.
I don’t however take my personal experience with a few and transfer my feelings towards the entire group.
I truly hope you rethink your position and adopt a more positive attitude towards people in general.
Blessings,

Hi Rena,
Thanks for the compliments! I’m working on a huge resource post for Easter that children will love. It’s taking me a while to make but I think the kids have lots of fun with it.
Blessings to you ♥,

good for you for staying home and being a mom! What a priviledge it is to be with our kids. I am a stay at home mother, and homeschooling mom of 6 children. I begun homeschooling in November and I love it.Wouldn’t trade it for anything. Your post was very inspiring, and it inspired me to not worry about what other’s think of me and to just be happy and be myself. God loves me, as I am, and that’s all that matters!Doing my best as a mother, wife, and child of God is all that matters.

Amen sister – yes people love to criticize stay at home moms but the truth is that being a stay at home mom is a self sacrificing step that should be admired not pointed the finger at. My values are not of this world`s that`s for sure. This world is passing. What matters is what we don for God and the people that He has put in our care and the people that He wants us to reach and make a difference for.

Hey Eren, it had to be the grace of God that led me here. You are an inspiration and a true testimony of the love of God! Thank you for being so transparent and sharing your, what I call, “love story” of life. There is nothing more gratifying than to have a personal relationship with God, it frees us from the world’s perception of who we are. Thanks for sharing and may God continue to order your footsteps. Blessings ~

Eren,
I am truly blessed to have made a professional peer connection with you online recently. That led me to your site and reading your “about” page, which led me here. wow. You really are a life inspiration in so many ways – and I offer a prayer to God that He continue to use you to touch other peoples lives for His plan.
I too had an awakening one day several years ago, where I finally felt God flowing through me, an experience I have been blessed to have felt many times since.
Thank you for sharing these snippets that help us to gain true insight into who you are in the world and as an instrument of His love for all of us.

@Regina – Thank you dear sister. I always tell my boys – Success is doing God’s will for your life. And even though this world will tell us differently, we should always remember God’s truth above all things.
In the end what will matter is if we listened to Him guide us and did His will for our lives. I’m so glad we are connected.. I’ve admired your work for a long time.
Blessings sis ღ
@Alan – Thank you.. prayer really is what I need most in my life. Every time the Lord tells me to do something.. let’s just say “someone” doesnt get too happy about it.. and “things” start to happen to try to discourage me from doing God’s will.
I’m not going to place my eyes on that though. Just as Peter shouldn’t have looked at the storm but fixed His eyes on Jesus.. that’s exactly what I’ll do – focus on Jesus.
There really is no other option since I know the truth and attempting to live a life outside of God’s will for me is utterly useless and would actually be stupid of me if I tried…
It’s wonderful that you have felt the Holy Spirit. There really is nothing like being enveloped in His Presence.
Thanks so much for connecting.
Blessings ღ,
Eren

ha! it seems we know the same “someone”. Doesn’t want us to succeed, be happy, stand in truth, or anything else in the light. I’m not good with specific scripture off the cuff, however to me, it’s by God’s Grace, and Holy Spirit that victory is assured, yet only when we relinquish to Him. Something I personally need to do daily. And am far from perfect in remembering to do, yet find great comfort in knowing.

Hi Alan,
True.. yes…. learning not to rely on the “flesh” is one of the hardest lessons.
We are so used to the world telling us that trusting in self is the way to go… but God’s way is so much better.
We simply do.. but not in our own strength.. depending on Him.. trusting and in faith..
It takes humility to live this way.. which is why so many don’t .. pride is our biggest hindrance to living in His will.
But when we release the need for pride.. we rest.. in peace… which is priceless…
I painted a watercolor that alludes to what I’m describing….
