LOL, I like the Indian Pumpkin. Reading this post increases the creative urge. If so much can be done with a pumpkin, we are left with other beautiful things with which we can create wonders. Thanks Eren for making us feel this way :)

Hi Samantha,
Sorry I took so long to respond. My dad fainted in the middle of the street so I've been really busy. He's much better now.
Now about the pumpkin: I didn't make the Samurai pumpkin but I know that it's made with crepe paper on the side of the pumpkin. You fold the crepe paper like a fan and then put scotch tape on the tip of it so that it will stick to the sides of the pumpkin.
The top fan is made with yellow stronger paper. Crepe paper is more flimsy and that's what you make the side parts with. The hair is made with yarn.
Hope that helps,
Eren

Hi Marlo,
I don't have the exact instructions but I can give you a notion of how to put it together:
You'll need 2 small pumpkins: one for the body and one for the head.
It would be best to decorate each separate piece first before securing both pieces together with a thin metal (or wood) stick.
The eyes can be bought and then put on with toothpicks.
Use black paint for the outer part of the head and body.
Use a black permanent marker to draw the front chest design.
The face needs to be carved. If your child is too small then I would actually do this part myself.
The beak can be done with an almond and also using a thin piece of wood to secure it on.
The wings and headpiece can be cut out of black cardboard. All of these parts can be glued on with hot glue.
Hope this helps ;-)

Do you have the decorating instructions for the "owl pumpkin"? My son has a decorating contest for school and would love to know what to use to make it.

Thank you for your time!

Sincerely,
Marlo

Thanks Lisa. My kids also loved just looking at these pumpkins. Decorating without carving makes it much easier to do and even little kids can chime in without having to worry about carving.
Thanks so much for stopping by :-D

Wow - that's a lot of pumpkins! And I think 'decorating' them instead of carving is really getting to be quite popular.

Some of the ones you have pictured are just hysterical! :D

@Matblogger - Yes this is a great idea for family fun. I'm thinking about buying some paint and painting pumpkins for thanksgiving this year. We might have a painting contest. I believe it's a bit easier to do than pumpkin carving because carving requires knives which make me nervous to tell you the truth ....

@Maria - My kids loved just looking at this blog post and laughing at the pumpkins.

@Rose and Mya - They are really different aren't they? Some are really cute but some are just terribly ugly- LOL :-D

Hi Chelle- aren't they cute?
I have more pictures but I'm still optimizing them so that they don't take so long for the browser to open them up.
As soon as I get them all ready this page is going to be pretty huge -LOL
Blessings,
Eren Mckay
