I just love these pumpkins, my son is having a pumpkin contest too. We have to come up with something quick! And so with that said, I appreciate you and your creative site that you’ve created it has given us great idea’s. And I’m sure many other families too so THANK YOU! The one’s my son likes best, is: the Jack N’ the box pumpkin, the turkey pumpkin, the owl pumpkin and the stereo pumpkin… God Bless!

@Michelle – I don’t have the instructions for the elephant pumpkin.. sorry wish I could help you out there.

@Jennifer – Yeah too cute

@Terry – The best paint to use is acrylic paints and if there’s any mistake correct with a Q-tip. When it’s the way you want, spray the varnish on.

@Angie – Categories would be: Girliest, Funniest, Craziest, Ugliest, Most Creative.. Hope that helps

@CMarie – I don’t have instructions for the elephant pumpkin.. sorry. These are a collection of pictures of pumpkins but I didn’t create each one of them myself.

@AudraS – The best paints to use are acrylic and then spray varnish on it after you’re done.

@Shannon – Yes I’m not into scary stuff – lol – I guess that pretty much shows up on how I decorate this site I’m glad you can use these ideas with your kids.

@Leigha – Awesome! I’m sure they’ll have fun painting.

@Edward – I’ve found that acrylic paint works best and then spraying on a coat of varnish fixates the paint.

Hi Samantha,
Sorry I took so long to respond. My dad fainted in the middle of the street so I’ve been really busy. He’s much better now.
Now about the pumpkin: I didn’t make the Samurai pumpkin but I know that it’s made with crepe paper on the side of the pumpkin. You fold the crepe paper like a fan and then put scotch tape on the tip of it so that it will stick to the sides of the pumpkin.
The top fan is made with yellow stronger paper. Crepe paper is more flimsy and that’s what you make the side parts with. The hair is made with yarn.

Hi Marlo,
I don’t have the exact instructions but I can give you a notion of how to put it together:
You’ll need 2 small pumpkins: one for the body and one for the head.
It would be best to decorate each separate piece first before securing both pieces together with a thin metal (or wood) stick.
The eyes can be bought and then put on with toothpicks.
Use black paint for the outer part of the head and body.
Use a black permanent marker to draw the front chest design.
The face needs to be carved. If your child is too small then I would actually do this part myself.
The beak can be done with an almond and also using a thin piece of wood to secure it on.
The wings and headpiece can be cut out of black cardboard. All of these parts can be glued on with hot glue.

Thanks Lisa. My kids also loved just looking at these pumpkins. Decorating without carving makes it much easier to do and even little kids can chime in without having to worry about carving.

@Matblogger – Yes this is a great idea for family fun. I’m thinking about buying some paint and painting pumpkins for thanksgiving this year. We might have a painting contest. I believe it’s a bit easier to do than pumpkin carving because carving requires knives which make me nervous to tell you the truth ….

@Maria – My kids loved just looking at this blog post and laughing at the pumpkins.
