My thoughts instantly fell to a shell necklace I made for my mom when I was about 3 years old. I’d completely forgotten about it, and don’t think I’ve even thought about it since I was around that age. It’s crazy how these little moments stay with us.

it at first glance makes me think of the love of a child. it reminds me of mother’s day as a child. the gifts that meant the most to my mother were the handmade ones, made with love.

Hi Melody!
That’s a beautiful correlation of the button sizes and the individuality of each one fitting in. Also the true transparency of the buttons being a metaphor for the openness that should always be a part of the family is beautiful too.
I always tell my boys that I love them just the way they are. The fact that they know this allows their self esteem to grow and also helps them discover new things about themselves since they have an emotionally safe environment.

What really strikes me about the image is how tightly knotted or knitted together the buttons are, no matter the shape or size the buttons fit, they are part of the whole – hopefully no matter how different a chiild is from the family s/he will fit and feel loved.

Another thing that talks to me with this is the transparent lucidity, the pearly white lightness – which can only come from being in a family where there is love. The openness to be who you are, sharing only your truth – this encourages outstanding connections and love between families – and isn’t this what the family is all about?

@Ana - Yes love is the beginning of all things. Without love, all would be lost. We should always have love in our hearts and if we see a root of bitterness sprouting up because of hurt we should always work through it and not allow that it come in. Bitterness kills love and joy in our lives. Thank you so much for coming by and leaving such thoughtful comments.

@Louis - Your comment now sparked up another understanding of the heart. The heart can also be interpreted as my own person. The buttons are the lessons I learn from my children. Each day that I spend time with them I learn something new and they help me grow and be “pieced together”. God uses our children to help grow us as people to become kinder, more patient, more loving, and more humble. Great to meet you Louis!

Yes I believe as parents we need to always listen to that still small voice which inspires us to be dedicated. There certainly isn’t enough recognition in the world for what we do as parents (in my opinion).
This kind of visual keeps my spirit encouraged to love more, to do more.

For sure Sire,
One of the things that encourages me is that not only am I a source for their growth but they are a tool that God uses to help me grow as well.
Now that they are a bit older they actually help me out which is a huge contrast to the first 7 years of their lives. I’m loving this phase. Best parenting phase yet: this age of 10- 12- totally awesome!

Yep, that’s me in a nutshell, deep and cute. You just have to love kids don’t you? They’re such a source of inspiration and there are times when you can be having such a crappy day when a couple of choice words, or a spontaneous action of some sort, and everything is fine again.

After I read this to my kids my youngest son said.. “That’s really deep mom!” He’s so cute
I think dialogue is essential to build character in them.

That’s pretty good Eren. All I thought was that it was probably a gift that some child made at school for his mom for mother’s day.

You are right though, we do so much for out kids and all without a thought for ourselves. All we hope is that they learn from us and grow up to be responsible adults.
