Hi Shayne,
It took me a few days to approve and reply to your comment since I was having internet issues. (Anyone's first comment is held for moderation.)
Anxiety is just awful. It all starts with a wrong thought process that goes down the wrong road and can lead to getting paralyzed and hindered. I have been there before and I know how you feel.
The sermon at the end of the post is one I listen to and helps keep me on track. You can listen to it anytime you feel that you need a reminder of the truth.
Ultimately anxiety is putting our eyes on the circumstance instead of on the solution which is in God. He is a sovereign God and has not fallen off the throne nor will He ever fall off the throne despite what others may say.He has complete control of everything.
He doesn't promise us that nothing bad will happen to us. (As He states in that verse: In this world ye shall have tribulation...) He simply tells us that everything that happens to us is for a greater purpose(Romans 8:28). That all things work together for the good. Not all things are good. He has a reason for things. We may not see why but we either trust that He does or we rebel against His will. It's really that simple.
And when we stop fighting His purpose and just embrace and accept it - that is when His peace overflows in our hearts. Job did this. If you read the book of Job you will see how Job was tested and overcame. Many Christians today have circumstantial faith. In order to grow in our relationship with Him we need to go through the fire. The big question is will we remain faithful to Him through it all or will we rebel?
I know this is a very deep answer to your question Shayne. But it is one that I can speak of as I have gone through many many fires. And I know that He is working in my heart and helping me to come to know Him more each day.
My heart goes out to you and I will pray and believe that our Father will shine the light of His word into your heart an drive away all of those clouds.
Love always in Christ ♥,
Eren

I'm having awful problems dealing with anxiety that it is affecting me personally and professionally. I won't apply for other jobs that I'm qualified for because I get so anxious. I'm not enjoying life and just as the email says need a little help. You seem to know the solution and just ask that you pray for me.

Hi Chris :-) !
I'm so happy that you found my blog. You can overcome the enemy of anxiety, my friend. Remember to always separate time to reflect upon the Word of the Lord. His word in our hearts is the sword that God has given us to fight this spiritual battle.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Ephesians 6:17

This battle sometimes is harder to fight simply because it is not visible to the natural eye. It all happens in our minds and spirits. But it is no less real.
The Lord wants to restore your spirit to one of peace. And He will. The closer you get to him the more peace He will give you.

Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 14:27

He has promised us that He will never give us more than what we can handle. Hold on to that promise.

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
I Corinthians 10:13

He is with you and he wants to mature you. Stay in Him and you will find true peace.
Love always,
Eren

This is a great Website. I'm almost 24 and about to have my first son. I'm struggling with Anxiety very much but know that the Lord is the only one that can truly help this problem. I have so much to be thankful for and be excited about but I let the enemy in and ruin my day/days. I need to keep my faith growing.

Hi Ching Ya,
Very true. I know that if my mind is anxious, it's because some lie has come in. No matter how right my idea may seem if it's not aligned to what Jesus says I just know that I'm off track. Anxiety is never a good thing. So we have to keep searching for Him and for His truth to enlighten our hearts. When this happens- it's such a tremendous peace.
My cousin had a recent AHA moment like this. The Lord showed her some things that took away all of her anxiety. She was so happy she talked to me for 3 hours on the cell phone from Rio.( I bet her bill will be high. ) But the great thing is that she is now free from those lies that bound her.
Blessings to you Ching Ya,

'Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.'(1 Peter 5:7 ) -- this verse has been a great comfort to me whenever I'm in anxiety. It's so good to be reminded of His promise and love even though we're in the lowest point of our lives. Thank you Eren for this lovely post. ^^

@Walter - Residing in the present is the only way to find true joy. As the words of Jesus- do not worry about tomorrow because each day has enough trouble of its own.
Making sure that our hearts are aligned to Him each day is a constant thing. This is why devotionals and time to spend with Him every day is important.
He fills us with His Presence, His Word and His truth each day.
Yesterday's bread is not today's. Each day He has fresh manna from heaven for us if we will just open our eyes and our hearts.
Thanks you for your insightful comment.
Blessings,
Eren

When our mind goes back and forth the past and the future, it creates an illusion of fear. The result is that we feel anxious. Imagine, we worry of things non-existent.

Tomorrow is an illusion, the past is also an illusion. You are here at the present moment. We have to wake up to where we are right now. The kingdom of God never reside in the past and the future. :-)

@Alaina - I agree. We need to always just take the time to be with Him and grow in Him so that we can be ready for whatever may come in our lives. Even Jesus took the time to pray and find the strength in our Father. That's why devotional times are such a must to stay firm.

@Maria - It's so easy to get distracted by this world and take our eyes off of Him. I just literally talk to myself and tell my soul not to think about the circumstances. I also repeat promises and Bible verses during prayer time so that my mind can remain in His peace. My grandma used to have a beautiful saying on her wall:
"7 days without prayer makes one weak."
I loved that saying.

Blessings to you my friends ♥,
Eren

Very well written. I loved your reference to the storm and Peter drowning. You are so right. Too many people, including myself focus on the storm which only leads to more stress.

Hey Eren,

I recently commented on Twitter about how it's so easy to forget about God. To forget how He can help us through things. So often I'm in freak out mode and it's hard to come back. I love Matthew 6:34 thanks for including that in the post - I really needed those words right now.

I completely and absolutely agree with you. Faith kills fear. We need to make sure that our hearts always have faith and kill any kind of doubt. Doubt is not trusting. This is one of the reasons why I love spending time praying and being in His Presence.
Thanks so much for your comment. Very insightful.
Blessings,

When we surrender completely to God and know that whatever happens will be according to His plan anxiety is gone. Until we have total Faith and Trust in Him we have not fully surrendered.

The more we resist the more likely we are not on our path and by choosing resistance over surrender we can create situations that we would not have to experience.

This does not mean that nothing we would call bad will happen. Often that "bad" is part of God's plan; yet, when we know it is we can peacefully accept it.

So glad you commented even though you've been reading the blog for a while ;-) .
Hope you come back more.
Anxiety truly is a problem but listening to that sermon helped me to crush anxiety completely.

Hey Eren,
This is incredible. I never thought before that cure for anxiety exists. I am anxious always but have never been into any of the medication. I like the way it is and I try to get more and more anxious about my future :D. However, I appreciate your efforts on nailing quote from the bible and posting it here.

Regards,
Girish Chandran

PS: This is my first post in your blog, despite several days of following your posts. Looking forward. Ciao!

Hi Laurie!
Thanks so much for stopping by ( and for the compliment on the video :-D ). Remembering Scripture is what keeps me strong. Amazingly the Lord moved me to listen to these Bible studies right before my dad fainted in the middle of the street.
So I know He was preparing my heart to just trust Him through it all.

Blessings to you my friend ♥,
Eren

Hi Eren,

Great post. Jer. 29:11 is one of my all-time favorite verses. I also love Ps. 29:7 "My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped."

I love your video too!

Hi Pete!
I'm so glad this post helped you. We all need to be reminded of what we already know. It's so easy for the enemy to throw a lie into our minds so we just need to always be attentive.
It's a constant battle. But the victory has already been given to us 2000 years ago on the cross.
Blessings to you,
Eren

Hi Eren,

Are you reading my mail again? I have been in a state of anxiety for several days (weeks now) and I know better. I know that I can trust the Lord and that He will get through every circumstance but.... I still worry, I still don't have faith that I will make it through this particular set of problems. You see it is because I have my eyes on my problem and not on Jesus.

Thank you Eren for posting this and reminding me that greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.

In Christ's Love,
Pete
