Hi! I'm Eren Mckay and I would like to thank you for reading my blog. I provide helpful tips for families in their daily lives and educational resources for teachers.

Ever since I became an “adult”, I’ve been told that I’m not supposed to be into childish things like Barbie, Strawberry Shortcake, and My Little Pony any more. A few years ago I secretly bought a whole bunch of dolls and then proceeded to give them all away. I was trying to be all “adult like” and censored myself. After going through a lot of tough times, I’ve decided that life is too short to cut out of it what I truly like.
So I’m taking today which is the official Barbie Day to just say:
Yes, I’m a total Barbie fan.
There. I said it
.
My ultimate dream trip would be to this Giant Barbie Store in Shanghai ( pic to the right ►)
It would be a really tough job getting me out of there… hee hee.
I’m not any less smart, unprofessional, or “whatever” for admitting that I’m a Barbie Fan.
I just think that repressing things that we like because “society says so” is a sad way to live. As long as it’s not something wrong or that hurts anyone, we need to have the courage to admit to what we like. It’s those things that bring us joy that take us through the really hard times. Maybe one day I’ll grow out of it…. I seriously doubt it though
. What about you? Do you have a hidden hobby or something you like? Have you stopped and thought about what you loved to do as a child and could you somehow bring it back into your life today? Please leave your thoughts in the comment section below. And if you have a few minutes I think you’ll enjoy this Barbie music video. It’s very ♥ inspirational ♥.

All of us need to go back to what we really enjoy.

Hey Eren … You go girl!
You are my hero. I love that you are such a cool person in that you know WHO you are and don’t care what society says is not “adult like” when we disagree.
As you know, I think and feel the same way. Like I always say, I feel 12 years old, I act 12 years old, too bad I don’t look 12 years old. LOL
Great insight Eren!
Your Friend,
Roy

Eren no doubt what we put into our mind comes out.So it’s no surprise that you like all that stuff I meant LOVE. I think it’s a great thing
Thanks for your help

AMEN…. but oddly– I am not the hidden source. Over the years, of finding Jesus… healing, reaching out… I found who I really am… and became one of the most transparent souls you’ll find….ask-you shall hear!!! AND BARBIE– oddly was not one of them!!
(as I told you!)
Adore you precious… know that!!! And am thankful we are friends!!
In His Love,
Heather

@Kenneth - Thanks .. so glad you enjoyed it!
@Roy - When society puts restraints that seriously shouldn’t be there.. Well I just say society needs to change – not us. As adults we already have too much on us to put another load. Plus if everyone conforms, we’ll just all be a bunch of booooring robots.
@John - Yes we become what we dwell on. If we dwell on happy positive things .. well that’s how we will be.
@Heather - Jesus of course is the answer and source of all joy. He in fact gave us the capacity to experience joy and the resources to do so. For example if I’m thirsty, He will guide me to the water. If I need friends.. He will give them to me. He is the one who provides.
.
) Keep shining sis!
And even though the backdrop of this post is about Barbie, it’s more about accepting ourselves. God has made each one of us unique with our likes and dislikes. Some people like chocolate cake more than strawberry, you know? And the point of this post is to say.. it’s OK to be who you are. God made us that way and we shouldn’t repress it
Hope that clears things up my dear friend ( who by the way, God gave me and I love
Thanks so much for all your comments – truly appreciate it.

God calls us to be great originals and we cheat ourselves and everybody else when we try to copy to conform.

Eren, this post reveals your fantasies about barbies and your experiences with them as a kid. Just keep playing with them. Age is not a constraint. As long as its fun just keep doing it

If you like Chinese and to promote your Chinese, you can stay with local family. You can go to the website of Homestayglobal. There are many homestay families on it. You can search the information of the families or post your request on the website . Another reason for staying with the local is cheaper fees than living in the hotel.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a fan of Barbie. What I truly believe is that as long as we are not doing anything that hurt anyone, including ourselves and as long as it is morally right.
Eren Mckay
@Harold – I couldn’t agree more with what you said. We are all unique.. like snowflakes and we should never try to repress that.
@Girish – I think I will love Barbies and other toys even ’til my grandma years
@LizReve – Thanks for the tip about it being cheaper to stay with local families. If I ever get around to going, I’ll keep that in mind.
Thanks so much for your encouraging comments,
Eren

@BK – Absolutely! That’s what I’m saying in this post. Unfortunately when you tell people that you like Barbie some of the think you’re … weird? Other times childish or whatever. So I’m just letting everyone know that I like Barbie and always will
Thanks for coming by ♥,

Cheryl Paris
Hello Eren,
Thanks for writing and getting us into the thought of what we love. “We must think back and see what we enjoyed as Child”. Just sit back and it will bring some beautiful memories back to life
I loved Barbie as a child and my daughter loves Barbie.
Bye for now,

Hi Cheryl,
.
The more joy we can purposely bring into our lives the better. I’m so grateful for being able to surround myself with beautiful things. Sometimes I simply meditate on how awesome my parents made my childhood and include those things in my daily life. This even motivates me to do things that I otherwise think to be boring.
Thanks so much for stopping by
Blessings ♥,
Eren

There’s nothing wrong to be a Barbie fan.
Good for you Eren. Be who you are and proud of it – we are gradually losing the freedom to be who we are because too much pressure from the society. Some people said blogging is for people who have too much time to spare, I strongly disagree but it didn’t stop me to be who I am today, which I’m thankful.
Happy belated-Barbie day and big hugs for a lovely friend.

Hi Ching Ya,
Couldn’t have said it better myself. We need to break society’s misconceptions and have the courage to be who we are. It’s the only way to truly be happy. I’m proud of the fact that you went after your dreams and decided to be a blogger regardless of what other people said to you. You’ve proven that we really can go after our dreams.
Blessings my friend ♥,
Eren

Eren,
That’s it, the only way to truly live is to just be and enjoy the things you enjoy.
Happy Birthday Barbie!
Eren Mckay
Oh yes and having a list of things that truly brings us joy and making it a point to surround ourselves with those things will create a very happy life.

Just wandered on in, read the Barbie post, thought I’d say something. What’s on my mind is that I think we get more appreciative of toys we had once, and I wonder about that. I’ve definitely outgrown toys generally. But it might be fun to get a bunch of G.I. Joes again and see what I would do with them – would I be a bit more imaginative now that I’m 20 years older?
Eren Mckay
Hi Ashok!
I think your spirit is definitely wanting to experience playing with toys again. It’s amazing how we are able to go into our “play world” when we simply take the step of doing what we haven’t done for so long.
Let your imagination wander. Let yourself “go there”. I believe you will discover simple joys and inspiration that you haven’t felt in a long time.
ღ Blessings ღ,
Eren
