Love is always doing what is best for the other person regardless of your own needs. In order to achieve this kind of love there needs to be absolute trust. The giving ourselves entirely.
This is what I have with my family and friends. There are people who I would die for without even thinking twice about it.
My best friend is my cousin but we don’t call each other cousins. We are so close that we have become sisters and that’s what we call each other. This year she had Leptospirosis ( a disease that can be fatal ) and almost died. But thank the Lord she recovered from that illness. It really changes us when we almost lose someone we love a lot. This inspired me to write about my deep bond to my sister. I hope it touches you in some way and causes you to reflect on your own relationships.

I’m always open to build deep relationships such as the one I have with my sister. Some people close their hearts after they have been hurt by a few but this only stops them from experiencing the true meaning of life. We must love. We must forgive. We must be open to real friendships and to discover the beauty in others. It’s the only way to live.
What about you?
Are you deeply connected to someone like this? Do you have friends that can go beyond the shallow talk? Do you have relationships in which just being around them is peaceful and fulfilling?
Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Hi Eren,
Relationships are EVERYTHING!
I’m always deeply moved when people connect with another as you have with your sis.
While we all WANT such relationships, as you say, some of us don’t forgive and open our hearts and minds (because of hurt) to achieve these deep relationships and that is so sad.
I’m always mindful of a wall plaque that my wife, Sharon, showed me on our second date. It read …
“A friend is someone who knows ALL about you and LOVES you anyway.”
I’ll never forget that!

I just came here from John Sullivan’s post via CommentLuv. It was nice being here. It was relaxing. Relationships are everything. I was a bit touched by it because my sister just recently left for the US and I miss her.

@Roy - I love the plaque that Sharon showed you. That saying is very true. True friendships is what makes life have meaning.

I can feel the sincerity from your poem, Eren. You meant each word and your cousin is very blessed to have you as a ’sister’. In life, I have met several nice people who I developed the relationship into sisterhood (in Christ). The friendship is beautiful and although we didn’t get to see each other often, we always remember each other in prayers.
Always treasure the people around us. God bless you and family always!

Hi Eren, Your sister is lucky to have such a special bond with you as I am sure you feel the same about having her. I have many friends that I have met online and I am very lucky to have you as one of them.

Hi Danny,
Yes I consider myself very blessed to have her in my life. People like her make my life have deep meaning. I’m so glad we’re friends too, Danny.
When we find those that value people and have character a great friendship can grow out of that.
Blessings always,
Eren

That is very touching and truly a unique bond. Although I love my family very much I don’t think I am connected to such an extent that I can think and feel what they feel.
Naturally if they are upset or sad or in pain then I feel for them and share their sadness and pain, but I reckon your bond seems to go beyond that.
I’m glad she’s OK now.

Hi Sire,
The case with my sister is that we not only love each other very much but we are so alike in our souls. Other people have seen our bond and said that we are twins- LOL.
We’ve spent so much time talking and our conversations have gotten very deep.
We don’t even need to be constantly calling each other. We know that no circumstance will ever change our connection. As you said : it’s a unique bond.
Blessings always,
Eren

Hi Eren,
My best friend lives in Connecticut and I feel the exact same way about her. I love her so deeply and your poem really speaks to that.
I sent her a link to remind her how much I love her.

What a very touching poem and post, Eren. I used to have very close friends in college but distance put as all apart. Now, my husband is both my best friend and my enemy sometimes, lol. I’m happy that she’s fine now. Take care of each other
