Baby Shower Table Decoration Ideas

So you’re preparing for a baby shower and you want it to be a dreamy event. The tables are main focal points so planning the decorations for them will set the overall tone of your party.
In order for everything to run smoothly, organize the materials that you’ll need ahead of time. One thing I always love to do is to draw out what I want my table to look like. This visual serves as an initial guide to all of my other planning. I also create a separate list of things to buy and tasks that need to be done for each baby shower table that I’ll set up.

Every table that you organize is an opportunity to make your shower even more attractive. So when mapping everything out, think of all of the tables that you’ll have. In this article you’ll find tips on baby shower table decorations for the sweets, finger foods and gifts tables and also some photos to give you more ideas for your special event.

Baby shower table ideas for the sweets table

A great thing to do is to place balloon decorations right behind the sweets and cake table. This brings the attention to the table. I wrote a cool article on how to decorate with balloons when planning your kids birthday party but it can also be useful for a baby shower.

You can have a separate sweets table or unite the sweets with the cake. If you decide on using a separate cake table, of course the cake will be the main centerpiece there. Then you’ll need another centerpiece just for the sweets table.
A fun idea would be to make a diaper cake. Diaper cakes have become a traditional centerpiece for baby showers. Use your creativity and make one with colors that combine with the theme that you’ve chosen. Here’s an article with reasons to make a diaper cake to inspire you. Some other centerpiece ideas for the sweets table are: stuffed animals, carved fruit, and helium balloons.

Make sure to have a beautiful sheer table cloth and for a prettier effect use white Christmas lights surrounding the edges of the table. Spread tiny flower bouquets or sprinkle rose petals around the sweets’ trays. Have a small side table near the cake to place the plates, napkins and silverware.

An elegant baby shower table idea is to have the food displayed on several different pedestal trays at different heights on the sweets table. Victorian style trays look stunning and you can rent them for the event. Place crystal candle holders and flower arrangements in between the sweets for a softer look. If you combine the sweets and the cake table, organize the sweets in such a way that they emphasize the cake. For example, make circular rows of sweets surrounding the cake. You can also unite similar sweets in clusters such as the picture below.




Baby shower table decorations for finger foods

The finger foods table will need some large decorations. If you’re throwing a more refined baby shower, the best idea is to use large flower bouquets. The flowers you pick can be exotic or delicate depending on what cool baby shower theme you chose.

Tulips, orchids, sweetpeas and roses are some of my favorite choices. Place the bouquet in a tall glass or crystal vase. To make it even prettier, use shiny stones or another combining decorative to fill up the bottom of the vase. Another option is to place the bouquets in hand painted porcelain vases. Have smaller bouquets positioned in between cold cuts trays. Make sure that the trays that you use for the cold cuts and finger foods are color coordinated with the overall theme. Gifts table decorations for a baby shower

The gifts table is especially important for a baby shower because it’s the moment when the guests come together and the mommy to be opens up her gifts. Place the gifts table near where everyone will be sitting to make it easy for the expectant mommy to reach them. Take lots of pictures of this bonding moment so that everyone can cherish this for years to come. Since this will be a large portion of the baby shower photo album, make sure your gifts table looks lovely.

Here are some baby shower table ideas: have white satin table cloths and surround the borders with thick satin bows in the color that combines. Use white tulle and have under the table lighting for a sophisticated look. Hot glue satin roses all around the table cloth. Another idea is to have a large stuffed animal that holds a big basket right in the middle of the table. For example: if you’re having a monkey themed baby shower, have a large stuffed monkey holding the basket. There are places that rent these big stuffed animals for events. The gifts themselves will take up a lot of space and actually be a decoration for the gifts table so focus on making the table cloth gorgeous.
